The opportunity to think about the future, imagine what’s ahead and place our individual actions within its scope is provided by democracies operating on the basis of trust and future consciousness. Hackathon participants spent a Monday afternoon divided into teams and took on four identified possible lanes for solutions: creating more access points to food, identifying and converting vacant spaces into food-producing spaces, connecting food insecure citizens with resources as they need them, and providing financial services and tools for low-to-moderate income people to maximize their ability to find fresh food. The Hong Kong Food Hackathon is where teams innovate new business ideas to tackle one of the challenges of the 21st century - our food. Participants collaborate, learn, design create and hack new ways all for the benefit from nutritious and healthy food. Do your research. Research the topic or theme beforehand so you’re prepared.

Under tävligen delar olika organisationer, som står inför en utmaning som de vill lösa kopplat till livsmedel, ut case. Sverige har skrivit under de globala målen och Food Hackathon är ett sätt att arbeta för att uppnå dem, och särskilt delmålet 12.3. som innebär att halvera matsvinnet i världen.
